Frequently Asked Questions
WHERE IS THE MONEY FROM MY PURCHASE GOING? WHY CENTRAL AMERICA?
Our mission, is to not only to help through education but to also help those living in extreme poverty and in countries in Central America where inequality is still the status quo. Therefore, little to no opportunities for poor uneducated women in particular. Why there and why now you ask? This is because countries like Honduras,Guatemala and El Salvador (with your help we hope to soon reach others!) are some of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. It has the lowest education indicators in Latin America. Poor families have almost no access to education past elementary schooling and many arrive at adulthood without learning to read or write. There are many other factors which prevent children from pursuing education; but lately there has been an increasing wave of femicide and violence against women and girls which makes it even more difficult for them to pursue education. Access to education for women is especially important because women can educate their own children and, therefore, break cycles of illiteracy and poverty in their families.

WHY IS FEMALE EDUCATION SO IMPORTANT?
Female education has powerful effects on society as it impacts the entire family. It has been demonstrated that a better-educated female population increases the total fertility rate (and in turn, the rate of population growth), decreases the rate of infant mortality, increases disease prevention, and improves child health and nutrition. Pour Favor is doing important work helping females in Central America get an education as an important first step in societal development and financial independence. We hope to eventually help as well as reduce illiteracy, poverty, and violence.
WHAT IS A 501 (C)(3) NON-PROFIT?
A non-profit with 501 (c)(3) status is a non-profit organization that has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to be tax-exempt. That's also important for you because another provision of the 501 (c)(3) status means donors who make charitable contributions can reap the benefits of a tax deduction in his or her federal income tax. However, for our product sales, taxes are applicable as they are due for our commercial activity portion of our program of raising funds thru sales.
